Ernest Harvey
The Man, The Legend

This page is dedicated to pictures or stories of Ernest Harvey.  A legend in his time and well known to anyone that had anything to do with country music.  Anytime anyone went with Ernest to the Grand Ole Opry they would see country music stars like Kitty Wells, Stonewall Jackson, Bill Phillips, Jean Sheppard and many more call Ernest by name.  Ernest was one of the few artists left that showed tribute to the country legends and we at the Greer Opry try to uphold his committment to good clean entertainment for the whole family.

Ernest Harvey enjoyed 51 plus years as a country music entertainer as well as being an avid fan.  He operated and entertained at the Inman Grange Show in Inman, SC for years.  He also entertained many fans for 14 years while he traveled with his band.  For 23 years he entertained at the Powdersville Opry House in Powdersville, SC.  The show was then moved to The Barn in Greer, SC and is now at the Greer Opry House in Greer, SC at 107 Cannon Street.  Ernest performed at many benefit shows and numerous nursing homes to the delight of young and old alike.  His genuine love of country music and people was an inspiration to the many people he touched during his life.

Ernest always had a song

This was taken at one of the many festivals Ernest and his band performed at.

Ernest with Jimmy Snyder

Ernest was always invited to sing at Tootsies, the infamous tavern just beyond the back door of the old site of the Grand Ole Opry.

Ernest, Charlie Walker & Jumpin' Bill Carlisle

When you go backstage at the Grand Ole Opry there is a lounge for the stars to relax and have some coffee before they go on stage.  Ernest always had somebody striking up a conversation.

Ernest & Dolly

I promise to make this image better.  One of the greatest thrills of Ernest's life was when he met Dolly Parton.  She is such a tender hearted and wonderful lady.  She made Ernest's dream come true!

Ernest & Entertainers from Nashville Nightlife

Ernest never failed to attract attention to someone that was singing and both of these nice ladies made his last trip to Nashville a great memory.
