Anytime anyone went with Ernest to the Grand Ole Opry they would see country music stars like Kitty Wells, Stonewall Jackson, Bill Phillips, Jean Sheppard and many more call Ernest by name. Ernest was one of the few artists left that showed tribute to the country legends and we at the Greer Opry try to uphold his committment to good clean entertainment for the whole family.
Ernest Harvey enjoyed 51 plus years as a country music entertainer as well as being an avid fan. He operated and entertained at the Inman Grange Show in Inman, SC for years. He also entertained many fans for 14 years while he traveled with his band. For 23 years he entertained at the Powdersville Opry House in Powdersville, SC. The show was then moved to The Barn in Greer, SC and is now at the Greer Opry House in Greer, SC at 107 Cannon Street. Ernest performed at many benefit shows and numerous nursing homes to the delight of young and old alike. His genuine love of country music and people was an inspiration to the many people he touched during his life.
